Huron only has about 2,000 residents and is often lumped together with Wolcott. Fruit farming and processing are the major industries of this rural town. This area used to be home to one of the most unique religious groups in the country, the Shakers. They were only here from the mid-1820s to the mid-1830s, and left for Livingston County when the Erie Canal came to Wayne County.
