North Winton Village - Rochester, NY

Overview

North Winton Village is a neighborhood in southeast Rochester, bordered to the north by Colebourne Road and Merchants Road, to the east by North Winton Road, to the south by Blossom Road and to the west by Culver Road. This is a vibrant neighborhood with a busy commercial district along North Winton, and an active neighborhood association. More affluent homes are on the eastern edge, near the neighboring Browncroft neighborhood, while the more middle-class homes are in the middle and the less-expensive homes are on the western outskirts.


Essentials

There are two major grocery chains within or just outside of North Winton Village. A new Wegmans supermarket recently opened at the corner of East Avenue and Winton Road, replacing a smaller store that was on the site. Tops Friendly Markets has a store on North Winton, at the intersection with Blossom.



Recreation & Entertainment

North Winton Village is mainly a mix of residential and commercial properties. There are plenty of eateries and popular night spots such as the Winfield Grill and the Wintonaire. For outdoor activities, Tryon Park is great for hiking and bird watching, while nearby Ellison Park also has ball fields and cabins for rent.




Transportation & Traffic

North Winton Road is the main corridor on the eastern edge of North Winton Village and Culver Road holds the same status on the western edge. Interstate 490, which runs east-west, is accessible off Winton, and Route 590, running north-south, has an exit and entrance on Blossom Road.



Pros & Cons

North Winton Village is a pretty, vibrant neighborhood with an active neighborhood group. The area is great for walking with plenty of nearby wide-open areas. Proximity to East, Park and University avenues, as well as downtown Rochester, is a plus. Some areas on the western edge of North Winton Village are a bit rougher.
